Journaling Tips for Beginners.
Hello and welcome back to the another journaling blog. So I asked some of you on my instagram @samruddhi_reads_ stories if you all would like to know more about journaling and alot of you answered positively so here I am.
So there are some of you who want to start journaling but don't know how to really start and what they should really write. So I've decided to write on "Journaling Tips for Beginners"
These are the points that I really quite have experienced and it has helped me. So here we go.
1] Know your reason:
Yes, we all do things so that we can get something out of it, right? So what is it that urges you to start a journal. Ask yourself
i) Why do I want to start a journal?
ii) What do I intend to get out of it?
iii) What kind of benefits will I get from this?
Answer to these Questions can look like this-
- I want to clear my thoughts
- I have to relieve my stress
- It will help me to be on track and manage my time.
- I want to improve my sense of gratitude.
Knowing why you should journal will help you to know what you're doing and why exactly. That's why it is important to know your reason to start journaling.
2] Make a proper book/diary/journal :
Before starting journaling, I used to write on paper and on any rough notebooks and those pages God knows where are right now. So this is the first tip I would like to tell you all because keeping a proper notebook/diary/journal only for journaling will be helpful as you'll not write anything else in this and you'll keep it safe. So just go get a beautiful journal for yourself.
3] Choose the right time :
Having the right time to journal is important. Pick up a time where you're free and haven't got anything to do. As you'll start writing there shouldn't be anything to disturb and any other work. Most of the people including me, either write in the morning or at the night before bed. So try writing in the mornings if you don't have anything else in the mornings to do and if that dosen't help the best option is to write before bed. Try what suits the best for you!
3) Don't put yourself into box :
I think every beginner at journaling must have been too conscious about what to write. What probably happens is, You open a blank page and you don't know where to start. Alot of us become to conscious to write the most best words in the beginning and have the perfect start. But that dosen't work because You can't really start perfect. Not only in journaling, this goes to all things, new beginnings aren't always perfect because you're doing that thing for the first time and you open up to so many aspects of it and you try much better over the time. So keep it raw. Know that it dosen't have to be perfect. Just open your heart and think of your journal kind of like your closest bestfriend, the one that you share everything to. So you can write almost anything.
4] How to Start and What to Write :
Yess, pick up a pen and the diary/journal/notebook whatever you call it. You can start with so many things for example,
i) Expressing Gratitude.
ii) Putting all the thoughts out.
iii) How your day was.
iv) Your dreams and goals.
v) Making a To-do list and planning your day.
vi) Affirmations
These are the few things which can get you started. You can also take help of Journal Prompts. Journal prompts are the best. They'll help you think out of the box. I love journal prompts they really help me alot. I've made some list of journal prompts as well. I'll share those some time. There are so many things you can do with your journal.
That's quite enough for this one. See you next time. If you haven't read my previous blog on journaling go check it out.
